Now and Then, A Jumpin' Jack Flashback

There were reports of some pretty big gusts from the RV boondock camp down the road yesterday morning. Suzane had to pull in her slide, and door mats were swept away to the Big Abyss, while scarcely four miles east at the Five Star Luxury RV Resort, a guy could both spit and pee into into the wind and get nary a sprinkle on his Crocks. The closer one camps to Hurricane, the closer one gets to hurricanes.
About nine AM, Bobbie, John and Ellen walked one of the BLM land loops behind the Resort and reported all was calm up there. I chickened out due to a cold front that dropped temps into my danger zone, thinking the hot tub would be a better option. I got started on a couple of repairs to Goldie's door and fridge, then got distracted by the Bronco game and never made it outside. Today is as calm as a sleeping baby, the sun shines, and it's supposed to get up into the mid 50's, so I will muster up the courage to brave those elements and venture out.

Today's flashbacks are from a hike in Capitol Gorge back in Capitol Reef National Park, and the North Gate Trail hike a few miles up from Virgin on the Kolob Terrace Road.

Now for a few thoughts from the super sized mind of my all time favorite comedian, George Carlin:

Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist.

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

'I am' is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that 'I do' is the longest sentence?

Electricity is really just organized lightning.

One can never know for sure what a deserted area looks like.

Atheism is a non-prophet organization.

By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.
There's no present. There's only the immediate future and the recent past.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, 'Where's the self-help section?' She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Peace Out,
Mark and Bobbie and the Gang...

  1. Great quotes from one of my favorites. He is so right on. Great pictures. Thanks for the warm looking ones of folks in shorts. Deep freeze here in the south. If this is mid November, what will January be like?

  3. Two things...one, when you start repeating the pictures, does that mean the end of "vacation" is near? And second, based on the "repeated pics, it seems you just can't get climbing out to that arch out of your mind. I would have ignored them. I would have climbed out there...and fallen. :)
