Here we come, walkin'
Down the street.
We get the funniest looks from
Ev'ry one we meet.
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy playing
To put anybody down.
We go wherever we want to,
do what we like to do
We don't have time to get restless,
There's always something new.
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy playing
To put anybody down.
We're just tryin' to be friendly,
Come and watch us play,
We're the old generation,
And we've got something to say.
(Lyrics and song by, The Monkees)
The Group welcomed John and Ellen's son, John the III yesterday; oh boy, fresh meat…too bad Jim isn't here :)) It will be confusing, I know, but we will adjust…maybe Old John and New John???
After a daring, but splendid and successful assault on the East Temple yesterday, we are making preparations for a slot canyon/Coral Pink sand dunes Field Trip today. This will be fun, again.
I want to give my "Monkey" friends a pat on the back. Yesterday's hike was a brutal quad burner on extremely steep sandstone. There were some questionable moments…rumblings of a Mutiny and such…but to a woman, Ellen, Debbie, and Suzanne reached down (well, up actually), focused on the objective, and found another gear…not to mention another level of courage…on one of the most difficult hikes without ropes in Zion. Will there be sore legs this morning? Yes. But it will be a "good" soreness.
Hey hey we're the Monkeys…
Stay tuned for the shocking photos of our Pilgrimage to the East Temple.
Peace Out from Zion
Lead Monkey
Looks like we're missing some great hikes, but at least they will be new to us next time!

Indeed, "next time."
DeleteBeautiful photos. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy :)
DeleteStunning photography, as usual.
ReplyDeletePhotography in Zion is pretty easy...
DeleteAhhhh...the Monkeys. Now, that's taking me back a bit. Looks like you're working everyone to the max on those hikes...the Box Canyon butt buster? Box Canyon boot camp? I'm wondering if we could even keep up.

Nina, you guys have youth on your side…the great equalizer :))
Deletethanks,
mark
Such awesome pictures! Wish I was there!!
ReplyDeleteIt is an inspiring place, alright…especially in the Off Season!!!
Delete:))
I love the title and lyrics in this post, and now I can't seem to get that "Hey Hey, we're the Monkees" out of my head on every hike. I don't remember having this much fun being a "Daydream Believer" since I last queued up the vinyl ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe cheer the awaking the hiking monster that lurked within Sleepy Jean :))
DeleteMark, we have such a new appreciation of Zion as a result of your hikes and photos. We can hardly wait to get back there for an extended stay. Just wish we had an opportunity to join your group. We would promise not to whine or cry. Maybe bleed a little, but no crying.
ReplyDeleteYou would bleed a little bit…we tend to get off trail. Way more fun and adventure.
ReplyDeleteGet that solar project done!!!
God am I working on it! Panels are installed. Working on the battery bay while humming "We are the Monkeys". Love it. And BTW, "S&H" green stamps? We must be of similar age. I remember those AND Blue Chip Stamps.
