Son Caleb and fiancee Keli showed up about midnight Friday night. First thing Saturday morning they are ready for a hike with a "payoff." I chose to summit Red Mountain 3, that little orange nub beyond the meadow of wildflowers in the above photo, and damn near 13,000 feet. Jackpot!
All the Red's are more orange than red, but I suppose "orange mountain" doesn't exactly roll off the ole tongue.
Anyway, it was a fine morning for getting high. Caleb and Keli were back out the door early this morning, headed back to their respective abodes in Denver and Grand Junction.
In a few short hours, Dehui Yang will arrive at our Mine Shack for a few days of hiking. Recall that Dehui is from China, but for now resides in Golden, Colorado, where he attends School of Mines. We met him a few years ago via the BCB and have enjoyed his company on several spectacular hikes.
Here's what we saw along the way to Red Mountain 3...
Happy Sunday everyone,
Mark
Loved that hike, too! Can't wait to see where you take Dehui this year.
