Presenting Mr Vanilla Ice himself, Marathon Man Leonard, in "Ice Ice Baby."
Warning: Always consult your Cardiologist before immersing yourself in ice water!
Click the above link to view the video version of our hike to Ice Lakes, and watch crazy Leonard take a PG rated skivvies only Cold Plunge. We wish Leonard luck in the Mount Sneffels Marathon this Saturday. Imogene Pass Race is coming up in September; I think he's ready for it now.
Have a great Sunday, everybody. We will be hiking with a new RV friend Tuesday, so stay tuned!
Mark
Crazy Leonard! Thanks for taking us along on your hike. It sure was easier watching the video than actually being there in person.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed every step of the hike you took us on, wow what a beautiful place, thanks you so much
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Colorado !!! Isnt it just the most amazing place in summer. Cant wait to get an RV again and spend some time there. Is ice lakes up by Blue lakes???
ReplyDeleteOnce again, such a treat to be able to "hike" along with you. Some people (Leonard) are just plain nuts. Thank goodness there are a few of them in this old world of ours.
ReplyDeleteMark-- Your previous blog put me over the edge!! If a lady with 3 hip replacements and tumor can hike up to Ice Lake ---here I come-- God willing put me down for return visit to Ouray for Wildflower!! Hopefully I can hook up with John Q for the hikes also.take care
ReplyDeleteFabulous video! Thanks for taking us along on such a beautiful hike!
ReplyDeleteJim and Gayle,
ReplyDeleteSomeday you will be there "in person." Images of Ice Lake will haunt... until you make the pilgrimage.
Travel well!
Frank and Chris,
Thanks for coming along via video link. More to follow :))
Sierra Sue,
Ice Lake in about thirty miles south of Blue Lakes (another worthy destination... only ten miles from our doorstep). Colorado knocked my socks off when I was a wee lad, on vacation from Phoenix, Arizona one July.
Driving by gushing stream after flowing river, hour upon hour, I remember asking my dad, "Where does all this water come from?"
Jim and Sandie,
Yes, the world needs more "Leonards." I would like to say I jumped in with him, but not enough to actually do it. In my defense, I have skinny dipped in Crater Lake...
Walden Steve,
It's about time you get back out here! You know John Q would love a hiking partner while we are at work :)). We'll put you down.
Grace,
Thanks for your comment. I try to put up a video once or twice a month... and don't neglect my video archives in the right side bar. Well over 50 short adventures ready to be taken from the comfort of you living room... cube... or internet cafe.
Thanks!
Mark
Looks like we missed out on one of Ouray's epic hikes. Leonard rocks! Perhaps next time? scamps
ReplyDeleteI was checking out Bobbie and Leonard's footwear to make sure I am adequately prepared if we ever make it out there! How much time does the Ice Lake hike usually take you round trip?
ReplyDeleteScamps,
ReplyDeleteNext time, for sure. And Leonard does rock.
:))
Pam and Wayne,
Round trip hiking time will vary between 4 to 5 hours. Of course you'll want to spend an hour at the lake. Just leave early enough to be off the mountain by 1 or 2 pm to avoid lightning and thunderstorms. And contact us for a "short cut." :))

The content owner has not made this video available in mobile. BUMMER
ReplyDeleteTom In Orlando,
ReplyDeleteI guess you are right... my iPhone wouldn't play it either. Bummer indeed... I think you would like Iceman Leonard.
Thanks for the heads up.
