I've been to a mountain with a view that's insane,
It felt good to be out of the rain
On the mountain I can't remember her name
But there ain't no one for to give me no pain
La la la la la la la......
So we're looking to climb a mountain, preferably a13er. We've hiked right by this rock a half dozen times, each of which my hiking partner says, We need to climb that.
13er Jane Doe on the left; still some snow up there |
We squeeze around the snow on dry ground, but it's littered with little marbles that has us spinning out. I wonder if golf spikes would help, or maybe Yak Tracks. We have neither so end up using hands and hiking poles. Going down might require using butt-anchors.
After a false top-out or two, we climb aboard Jane's broad summit... ok, shouldn't call her a "broad." How about "expansive?" Anyway, you could play Frisbee up there.
Clouds began rolling in; nothing threatening, just enough to block the sun and chill us down. Now a few photos along the way up and down Jane Doe.
Getting ready to head out again this morning... not sure where.
Stay tuned,
Mark and Bobbie
Can't run this ridge without ropes... |
On top of Jane Doe |
Nice light and shadows... |
When I saw this boulder I just had to go take a closer look... What the hell is holding it in place? |
I could have sent it bounding off the mountain with my little finger!!! Yes, the "little boy" in me was tempted...but he didn't. |
Thanks for the beautiful photos. Looking forward to your next adventure- Mary Lou
ReplyDeleteScenic hike but way too steep! Doubt I would ever have the nerve to make it to that ridge.

WOW! What fantastic pictures. The ones from the top are just beyond amazing. You two are really something. I'm getting a nose bleed just looking at what you did. Must be some sense of accomplishment after you recover from the breath taking beauty.
ReplyDeleteA sense of accomplishment, followed by a nap. :)
