Still Going Uphill On The downside of Septuagenaria

"What do you want to do for your birthday,"  I ask.
"I want to go sledding," she replies. "And I want bacon, biscuits and honey for breakfast."

Maybe it's all those freaking vitamins Bobbie takes. Or maybe its because she does some form of exercise every freaking day, and has in all the nearly 40 years that I've known her. Or maybe it's all that dark chocolate she's powerless to resist. Or, maybe it's just "good genes." Whatever the reason(s), Bobbie D. Johnson is still going strong on birthday number 75!

The plan is to cap off her big day with a celebratory dinner with close friends and family at the Colorado Boy Brewery, after which she which she will resume the same lifestyle that got her this far. If it ain't broke, don't go trying to fix it! I just hope some of her good fortune rubs off on me :)

Happy birthday Miss Peppermint Pattie!
From your Big hunk o' love, Mark.

Yesterday, Bobbie, son Caleb, dotter in law Kelli and your's truly decided we wanted to go snow shoeing someplace different. That ended us up on Lizard Head Pass, south of Telluride. It was another perfect day: Full sun, no wind, and temps in the middle 30's...

The monolith spire left of center is 13,100 foot Lizard Head.

The 2 ridge-connected peaks to the right of center are 14'ers Wilson and El Diente...both of which we climbed a million years ago, or so it seems.

On the way home, we took a detour through a jammed packed Telluride. Lots of snow, and you could literally smell the money...
Peace out,
mark, bobbie, caleb and kelli

  1. Bobbie, you are amazing! If we are only half as active as you are at 75, we will be thankful. Happy birthday!

  3. Congrats on the Big 75 Bobbie.....yes those vitamins sure do pay off, along with letting food be your medicine :) (that's my motto). I don't know about this hike thou looked pretty daunting in the beginning, thank God for that forrest, my eyes were starting to blur from thinking about all that glare (even with the ray bans on, and sitting in my front room):) Would have loved to caught you all heading into the Brewery for dinner, we are always checking that live web cam you know.....living vicariously in two worlds, we are: can't get The San Juans out of our brain.

    Wishing you MANY MORE
