What ain't done don't need doin', what ain't packed don't need takin, and what goodbyes ain't said don't need sayin'. All what needs ta happin now is ta just get goin'. Bon Voyage, my friends, and I'm not foolin'.
That downer rain I spoke of in the last post turned into a half foot of snow...wet, heavy, slick as snot snow. There is a fine line between adventurous risk and stupidity; I cross it all the time. But not with the "girls" in my life. No, Bobbie and Goldie are off limits...irreplaceable jewels, more precious than fun. Red Rocks and Pal Boonie can wait...I know at least one of them will still be there come our much delayed arrival.
Giddyup!
The following postcards are from our last fall hike, a close to home loop up Cutler Creek, over balding ridges of old growth aspen, and down Shortcut Draw to Storm Gulch, so as not to miss too much of the Bronco/Cowboy game—a real rootin' tootin' wild west shoot out where our "Horses" prevailed in the final seconds 51 to 48. Five and Oh, baby. Peyton Manning is a football savant.
When I said "old growth aspen" I wasn't kidding. Check out the date on the "graffiti" carved into the bark below...in 1905 someone named Sue left her mark!
Oh my....just don't know what to say! Absolutely beautiful just isn't enough. It goes way beyond that! What a wonderful backyard you and Bobbie have in Ouray!
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful country you live near. Thanks for the photo tour.
ReplyDeleteHowdy Bobbie & Mr Twain,
ReplyDeleteBobbie in LONG PANTS, HUH?? I KNEW THOSE ZIPPERS WORKED and the bare-legs would show, even in the snow !!! Pretty pics, Bobbie, of your back, as always... Enjoyed the hike, sitting here in the 'lowlands', breathing easily and seeing ALL of y'all's beautiful country.. Now, Mark, let's head'em up & move'em out down the mountains to the rugged desert !!! Sure glad you 'protected' the women folks !!!
Hope y'all have a really easy, SAFE trip to the canyons and a HAPPY TIME, with Boonie...
Your gain of Peyton is our loss. Luckily, we did gain Luck....but he is no Manning. Indy will miss him for a long, long time. Photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNow you know this delay means you need to get your writing assignments DONE now. No procrastinating :)
ReplyDeleteHope you are able to get on the road real soon. Good to be patient and wait out the weather:)
ReplyDeleteMore beautiful photos:)
oh, I really love the aspen eyes...made me do a double take! Hope you can get on the road soon, safely, of course.
ReplyDeleteI can feel my chest constricting just looking at those steep trails! You and Bobbie are a couple of tuff birds! I bet the lowlands feel mighty easy when you first arrive!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking postcards. I'd call them works of art.
ReplyDeleteHappy and safe travels as you head down those lovely mountains.
Mark, great photos as usual. You may have mentioned before, but what kind of camera do you use? Our son's in-laws just returned to Denver (ahead of the snow) from 4 days in your lovely city and surrounding area. Perfect weather and great photos came home with them.
