Warm and Cold and New and Old

It would figure that the one winter we miss out on camping in southern Aridzona is nearing the mildest on record. It's going to be mid eighties mid week! Last winter Bobbie and I were wading snow on Madera's trails, and Goldie had icicle stalactites proliferating from every eave and gutter. The Forest Service even barricaded the road to the campground, which sled dog SueBee Subaru promptly circumvented with ease. Hey, she's a Colorado Girl.

Big Mark and The Holding Company on Light, Shadow, and Composition

While "on hold," the Universe has bestowed upon me the perfect opportunity to write. Only problem is, I don't feel like writing; maybe if it was just the flu…

Snake Eyes

It turns me inside out to write this so I'll make this post short and to the point…

Mind Meanderings: Incentive Lost and Found

It is reassuring to have a vast library of digital photos—tens of thousands taken over the course of the past fifteen years. I believe they will be of comfort in my old age. This "litmus test" of being idled on the "bench"—sent by the Universe for some perverse purpose beyond my ability to fathom—is proof that there has been purpose in wandering.  Someday, investments in travels will serve me well, jog fond memories, and give me something to do, show, and tell, in addition to passive pursuits like reading and watching Wheel of Fortune. A distracted mind speeds the clock and banishes woes, which makes me wonder if there will be a black market source for Viagra at the home...

A Salmagundi Sandwich of Potpourri

This is where I spend six to ten hours a week, suspended in 106 degrees of amniotic mineral water bliss, imbibing 45 degrees of bottled mineral water piss (they don't allow alcoholic beverages), in outside temperatures that hover between zero and thirty degrees…vaporous mists of snow, or sunshine, or both. It's where I do my best philosophical wandering.

One More Thing Before I Go...

I just deleted the "whole story;" couldn't bring myself to subject you to all the details of my ordeal at Doc Holiday's office…some funny, some not so much. Surgery is scheduled for the 22nd. I'll be there, even after the uneasy experience of being forced to surrender my inalienable rights to sue. Those "please release me" from liability forms? No signature, no surgery.

Longevity and The Red Menace...A Perverse Inverse Relationship (rated R for explicit language)

Lazy winter's days in Lovely Ouray—blowing snow out Imax Windows and an ache in my gut—sentenced to a Lazy Boy recliner instead of a Lazy Daze camp in Arizona. My appetite and calendar are apathetic; I'm so bloated on Bowl Games I can't even stay awake. To be sure, there are more Bowl Games than exciting teams to play in them; thank God for the few nail-biter match ups with no-huddle rapid-fire action. Time ticks away game by game; only four more days till I get to "turn my head and cough."
