Bullion King, With Lisa and Hans...Then, Going Off On "Beautiful Day"

Our last hike with Lisa and Hans called for yet another run up the coiled snake-of-a-road, Million Dollar Highway....a mere notch, blasted from colorful solid rock. It weaves like a drunken sailor, corkscrewing it's way south to Silverton. Guardrails? Nope, not enough room. The edge of the pavement might as well be the edge of the earth, it separates Life from Death. It's an interesting route, 550 south, till winter sets in. Russian Roulette, anyone?

Great Expectations versus Reasonable Doubt: I Persist, Therefore I am...

"Art is a lie that makes us realize truth, at least the truth that is given us to understand. The artist must know the manner whereby to convince others of the truthfulness of his lies."  Pablo Picasso

Dyed and gone to Heaven

Lisa and Hans of Team Metamorphosis Road (love that name!) joined us for a hike to one of our favorite "post cards" yesterday, Ice Lakes. I always get a thrill out of dragging RV friends above timberline to show off the unimaginable brilliance of this sapphire gem.

Metamorphosis Road Rolls Into Lovely Ouray

Lisa and Hans of Metamorphosis Road arrived in Lovely Ouray for a couple of weeks of hiking and biking and Brew Pubing. They even brought along their RV entourage of Jen and Deas, and Merianna and Brian; you meet the nicest people in RVs, and sometimes you just want to take them with you.

My Giant

That's him in the middle—the Big Guy, clowning for the camera with brothers, Milton and Harold, sporting white bucks, bell bottomed slacks, and waves of jet-black hair that drove girls crazy back in the day.

Going GPS-less In Swallow-You-Up Country

There she goes again, Itsy Bitsy Bobbie, insatiably curious, scrambling through bloody, clenched Jaws of Backcountry Utah, swimming sand-canyon gullets like an out of school minnow, making her way through maze after maze after maze, in search of unrelenting wonders that await around the next corner. Some never outgrow their childhood curiosity to explore, and aren't we the lucky ones.

Around My World In 180 Days...Starting Right Now!

I've been bitten by the June Bug; it's the beginning of something beautiful because the next six months are my favorite 180 days of the year.
